Weaponsmithing check vs. 15 iYKcqQbe1d20
On the subject of books, didn't we recover a couple from Damien's library? I distinctly recall Drezden holding on to at least one. Could they be worth something?

Yeah and I still am wary of it but I think I would prefer not to sell the nightshade creation book then. The other is that one or two books? I could see about removing the pages that detail about creating the net of dreams and see if the book is still worth anything. Same actually with the other the pages detailing how to create nightshades maybe cut the pages out and try to see the value of the books after?
If we did grab books from the tower I don't see them listed on the character status page. Unless it is not on the first page where it has all the characters with their gear.

Okay, Malavar is now the owner of a fine spear (non-magical +1 to hit).
Alright. What's this new spell then he's going to research then?
You could easily remove the offending pages, sure. However, the knowledge on those pages is what makes the books so valuable. By removing them, you decimate the books' value. They would drop from being worth 500 GP to only 50 GP each.
The book Rax is talking about is in Drezden's backpack. It's Poisons and Known Antidotes.

Hmm that one might be worth holding onto. Didn't realize it was a book I thought that was saying Drezden had a poison and the antidote. I guess he will just have to bite the bullet and sell the one that is about nightshades rather than the net of dreams one. Sell the poisons and antidotes one too then.

I just noticed that Malavar has a "gold crescent earring" listed in his gear. Might as well get that evaluated in the off season.
Also, how much would it cost to get the chain mail, shield and footman's mace identified, so that I know what he's actually got to work with?

Okay, he sells the Herbarium Maleficum for 500 GP. However, it turns out Poisons and Known Antidotes is cursed. When he brings it into the shop to sell it, the book merchant opens it up, a large spider (2' in size) is summoned and runs on a rampage. Fortunately, the town guard is able to chase it down and kill it before it seriously hurts anyone. But Drezden is blamed for it, and is made to pay 100 GP in damages. The book itself is completely blank and hollowed out, making it worthless. He has 530 GP now, though, so he can afford that masterwork studded leather, if he wants it. Also, how much would it cost to get the chain mail, shield and footman's mace identified, so that I know what he's actually got to work with? Oh, that's right. He quietly pocketed it and never told the party about it. The earring is worth 12 GP. Identifying magical items costs 100 GP per item. However, with enough experimenting with them in battle, he'd learn on his own that they are all just +1 items.

Maybe that's why he eventually headed for Shadowdale. Had to get out of town fast. Okay, one suit of masterwork studded leather bought and equipped. Do you want his old armor in his pack or on his mule?
