Lillian leaves Miss Foxmore be, feeling rather at a loss for what to do next. Ladonna is preoccupied with her grief, she can't effectively seek out Haywise, and she'll have a hard time getting the information she wants from her without getting her into trouble with the Sadduce. She lets her mind wander as she strolls absent-mindedly through the castle halls.

"That must be useful," Ladonna says. "And, so, since the church decided to assign you to me, does that mean that this is an order from the high priestess?" she asks.

"I was given this assignment by Sadduce Sern," Edgar answers. "Whether that was a decision she made or the order came down from higher up, I am not sure."

As Lillian wanders through the hallways of the manor, she hears a voice behind her. "What's this? A beautiful damsel, unaccompanied during these dangerous times? Perhaps I can be of serv...oh, it's just you," Mannan says in disappointment when Lillian turns around.

"Oh, Manaan," Lillian says, sounding almost as disappointed. "No, don't worry, I'm far from unaccompanied," she says, gesturing to the two guards behind her.

"Oh, I can't speak of such top secret things in public, of course," Mannan says, casually dusting off some fluff on his cloak. "Suffice to say, I am a valuable and trusted assert to the count, and I certainly have his ear. It's why most folk often seek my favor, instead of...you know...brushing me off like I was some kind of servant."

Ladonna seems assumed by Edgar's reaction. "And now you are assigned to me. When are you going to be able to see your family?" She asks.

"Well, making sacrifices is all part of the job," Edgar says. "Gonto always comes first."
Lillian
"You don't need to imagine, now do you?" Mannan asks rhetorically. "Anyway, I'm off. Perhaps spend a bit of time thinking about the sort of friends and enemies you want in the court." With that, head held high, the gnome stalks off down the hall.

"Oh, I will," Lillian says with a smirk. Perhaps it had been unwise to make an enemy of Manaan. But with his arrogance and obnoxious flirting, it was hard not to. She may not want him as an enemy, but she definitely doesn't want him as a friend.

Edgar clears his throat. "A son," he says simply, clearly growing uncomfortable with the topic. He suddenly downs whatever is left in his cup.

"He's right, you know," says one of Lillian's guards. "Mannan's got connections like few others. Gnome's got more strings he can pull than a violinist."
