“Certainly a dangerous person to have as a foe,” Lillian says. She didn’t like it, but it would probably be a good idea to apologize to Manaan next they met—no matter how demeaning it would be.
In the meantime, she decides to look for Unakite. She'll probably be thrilled that I was almost killed, Lillian reflects with disgust. Unakite's madness doesn't seem so...endearing to her, now.

"He's certainly well-connected," the first guard says. "But I think he's pretty harmless."
"Then again," interjects the second guard, "nobody's ever rejected him before..."
The two guards fall silent and back in line as Lillian moves on. She finds Unakite in the trophy room, a room she's never been to before. It's filled with war trophies and prizes taken on adventures and quests. They represent the spoils of the centuries, and the work of many lords of Castle Hart. On the walls are shields and weapons from vanquished foes. Trinkets and rare objects looted from the lairs of horrible monsters are displayed on small stands. On the walls are also the heads of beasts defeated in combat or taken in the hunt. A large empty table with several chairs is in the middle of the room. Unakite skips from display to display, taking a moment to observe each one in turn.

"Some of these are rather gruesome, aren't they, Unaktie?" Lillian remarks, as she observes the monster heads. She tries to see if she recognizes any of the species.

~Clearly an uncomfortable topic for him,~ Ladonna thinks to herself. That makes her wonder why as she goes in to down her third cup. "Did they tell you anything about me?" she asks. "You met me on a bad day, I'm afraid. Actually, it is probably the worst day. I was just starting to get along with my father again. He was the one to arrange my marriage to Relken," she explains. "I was so mad at first too, but I had come to accept it. Plus, I was going to be able to get married in Hart. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad," she says. "He died knowing that I wasn't getting married. He... in my typical father form was probably worried."

Ladonna "I know everything Sadduce Sern knows," Edgar answers. "She filled me in on everything."
Zesk nods. "Life can change so quickly at times, in ways we never see coming. I'm sorry for your loss."
Lillian The head that Unakite is observing currently belonged to an owlbear. Lillian has heard tales of these beasts, said to be incredibly vicious and violent and often found roaming woodlands, but she has never seen one in person before. "Their deaths live forever, for future generations to experience," Unakite says dreamily. "Like a painting made of a head..."

"Perhaps not as dynamic as you like your paintings, though," Lillian says, remembering Unakite's comments at the painting competition.

"Maybe I should take up taxidermy," Unakite muses. "I bet I could make them more dynamic."

"That would be a sight to behold. You puppeteering the corpses with magic, while the poor citizens shriek at their horrifying writhing," Lillian jokes.

"Thanks," Ladonna says to Zesk. After pouring herself a new glass, she swirls the liquid around a bit in her glass. "I probably should be trying to help Lilala right now, but I can't bring myself to do it. I don't know how to find a human that would be willing to marry an elf."

Ladonna "The idea is hardly unthinkable," Zesk says. "There are plenty of half-elves around for a reason. Half-orcs, too, for that matter. So clearly there are willing humans out there."
Lillian "Just think, you could have been my first canvas, had you drank from the wrong vial," Unakite says, slowly turning toward Lillian. "My first masterpiece...true immortality. What more could any bard wish for?"

"As a macabre trophy? A corpse on display?" Lillian says, suddenly quite angry. "Never. I want immortality of deed--to change the world in a way that I'm remembered centuries after my passing."

Unakite tilts her head slightly. "But will people remember you, or just your deed?" she wonders.

"Honestly? I'm happy either way," Lillian says. "Fame and honor would be wonderful, but it would be satisfaction enough to know I had changed the world for the better."

"I'm all for changing the world," Unakite responds. "Changing the world involves so much death and chaos. More people should do it. The world gets terribly dull otherwise."

"Here in Hart, right now?" Ladonna asks Zesk. "Because I haven't met anyone that would be willing to risk their status to marry an elf."
